FROM SIR. ALEX. BINNIE, SON & DEACON, TO THE CROWN AGENTS.

Letter No. 4.

Artillery House,

Artillery Row,

Victoria Street,

Westminster, S.W. 1.

5th October, 1932.

Gentlemen,

Hong Kong Water

Shing Mun Valley Scheme.

As we have recommended the engagement of Mr. L.W. Innes

for the position of Senior Assistant Resident Engineer, we now

recommend that Mr. J.G. Campbell should be seconded from P.W.D.

Hong Kong for service as Junior Assistant Resident Engineer, the

period of such service being for the duration of construction or

such shorter period as he may be required, but subject to a month's

notice to be given by the Resident Engineer to the Government.

Mr. Campbell is now being paid at the rate of £610 per

annum, and it is recommended that he should receive any increments

to which he is entitled under his Agreement, together with Duty

Pay at the rate of £100 per annum whilst engaged on the Shing Mun

Scheme, together with such transport allowance as may be arranged

locally not exceeding $75 a month.

It would be a great convenience and economy if you could

arrange by cable for Mr. Campbell to be available to receive

instructions from us as from November 10th next. Mr. Hull is due

to arrive in the Colony on November 17th, and pending the completion

of office accommodation and quarters on the site, he will have to

make use of temporary offices in Kowloon, and, amongst other

matters, we would wish Mr. Campbell to locate suitable alternative

accommodation for Mr. Hull's selection on arrival.

We are, Gentlemen,

Your obedient servants,

SIR ALEX. BINNIE SON & DEACON.

(Initialled) H.J.F.G.
